Thanks for this great, free application. I'm glad someone took the time to figure out how to do this. It's fun for on-the-go camera shots. I'd love it if you could allow it to save the images larger than it does or somehow size down with less quality loss. I'm using it on the Droid and it seems to work great. Some ideas for other effects: pinhole camera, redscale film, infrared, tilt shift, cyanotype, old fashioned photo with fake scratches on the film, etc... I love it. Thanks for putting in all the hard work to bring the software to life. I have no programming skills, so I'm at your guys' mercy ;)

Thanks for a really fun app! Do you know yet if the 'old camera/film emulation' feature will be released soon?

Please continue with this project. Thanks again!

    Hi!

Many thanks for this cool app! I use it with my new HTC Magic and it's top. The only thing I realy miss is the option for zooming! The default cam has it installed fix, but your cam unfortunately not. Would be nice to have it by the next version!!

    Kind regards

The only thing that would make this app better woul be if there was an option to import photos from your phones gallery instead of its own. Otherwise I LOVE IT!

    >Rosalena Boggs, Pat

It's the HTC Hero's specific problem.
I'll try to find a solution for it.
(I guess it a bit difficult because other developers also struggling).

temporary solution is to use the default Gallery app.
the pictures you taken is stored in group "FxCamera".

    >Michael Nielsen

thank you for the info. I'll try it :)

    #122,

Thank you for considering the EXIF information for fxCamera - Perhaps flickr API (and other APIs) support tagging when uploading. So you dont have to embed the details regarding the image into the actual EXIF.

    Just my two cents.

after taking a shot, we get the JPEG bytestream of picture.
i decode it to Bitmap by using BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray.
and then using Bitmap.getPixel() and setPixel() to manipulate pixel by pixel.

I recommend you to see a source code of pre-installed camera app,
    it's very useful.

I see. I'll try to add FxCamera's settings into EXIF data.
but I guess it takes some time because editing EXIF function is available from Android 2.0 (Eclair),,,

    Great application you've made.

I have a feature request, when taking pictures - Embed the styles used as Meta data, I have set my Toycam up for Random effects and upload to Flickr. So the different filters applied to each image would be nice to have as Meta data.

    Thank you for your program

usually "Failed to save (Error code = 8)" indicates "cannot write to SD card".
the followings are question/suggestions for solving your problem,

    - please take out your SD card from your phone, then insert again and
    try FxCamera again

    - please try to reboot your phone, and try FxCamera again

    - try to change settings,
launch FxCamera > press MENU key > press Config
    > select "Picture store Location" to "Saved in the default Camera album"
and try to take picture again

    - what about default(pre-installed) camera app?
    can it save pics?

this is a todo list. so "timer" is not available for the current version of FxCamera.
If you want to take a shot with timer and without effect, try "Camera Magic"
which is a great free camera app with timer&zoom feature.

    >alan
ok, I give increased priority to multi-exposure :)
high res for polandroid is a bit difficult. but I'll try it.

I came to your page specifically to beg for multi-exposers and there is is at the top of your to-do list. This app is so awesome, I'm living the Lomo dream without the price tag :-)

any chance of improving the resolution of the polaroid mode? otherwise, as I said, this is the best app.

Thanks for one of the best apps on the market! I'm looking forward to some of the items on your to-do list. One idea that I'd like to see after playing with a similar feature on my wife's Samsung Behold - the ability to create a mosaic based on multiple shots. The Behold's interface lets you take a pic that is placed in one of the inner "frames" then another pic to fill another frame and so on. It had options to put a pic in a thought bubble, and another pic in the main photo. It seemed similar to how a panarama shot would work except the additional shots exist within the same frame opposed to side by side.

    >Matt

sensitivity in low light environment is hardly dependent on a hardware (camera sensor).
i know the HTC's android phone's(G1/Magic/Hero) camera sensors are not good at night shot.

    >Lisa Marie
the current version of FxCamera is "ver 0.5", not "5.0".
I've receive the same bug report from some HTC Hero users.
Now I'm trying to fix it. pls wait for a while.

and you can also see your taken pictures by dafault Gallery app.

launch "Gallery" from your Home > select "FxCamera" group

    >Julian Coccia

  • #102

    Matt (Wednesday, 21 October 2009 14:04)

Love this camera for what it is, but if you can finish what you talked about above it will be indespensible (zoom, auto save, write on a polaroid, crop, even applying diff effects to the same pic..) Can anything be done to improve photos taken in low light environments? Would be willing to shell out some cash for an app that did all that! Thanks for the hard work

  • #101

    Julian Coccia (Wednesday, 21 October 2009 06:38)

Another killer feature would be a double exposure emulation.

  • #100

    Lisa Marie (Wednesday, 21 October 2009 00:39)

I couldnt open gallery either. Tried reboot. Tried removing SD card. I removed the program because I wanted the 5.0 version. Sounds like that was fixed. So my question is how do I download that version? My phone is the hero htc and I found fx on market. Any help? Im sad I lost all the photos I took.

  • #99

    Julian Coccia (Tuesday, 20 October 2009 00:11)

    Hi there!

Thanks a lot for such a great app. I love shooting film, and this application is by far the best :)

    A few suggestions:

    - A default camera mode, so that one wouldn't have to select "Toycam" or "Polandroid" every time you want to take a picture. Toycam is my favorite but it takes that extra click every time.

    - Auto-save is a must. I've experienced the same issue as Denise

    - Is it possible to configure a slow shutter for having better night photography? I see this as a big limitation in the standard camera application.

    - Pinhole frame overlay:

Name: Isn't this supposed to be called vignetting?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignetting

Setting: Soft seems to be very soft and medium seems to be very hard.
The hard setting is way too hard.
Something in between soft and medium would make me very happy :)

    - A 6x6 emulation (square frame) in B&W with high contrast would be awesome too :P

Thanks again! I keep looking for new updates all the time!

    Cheers,
    Julian
